is it just me or does the date stamp on the picture say 2003?
i think tim is pretty cool from what i have seen of him on the show. i also think that ANYONE could put a climbing team in danger. what is your problem with tim anyway? seems like you have a personal dislike of the guy.
In and of itself, attempting something as dangerous as climbing 8000 meter peaks does not make you a hero. Being a biker entitles you to no special privileges, either. High altitude mountaineering, like motorcycling, has more than its fair share of egos, posers, and all-around jackasses.
It is my opinion that TM is a jerk. He appears to goof around, taking his own sweet time eating pizzas, napping, and showing up late while his teammates do the grunt work of shoveling/melting ice and snow for water. He appears to be climbing mostly by himself so that if he gets into trouble, his mates won't be there to help him immediately. Instead, they would have to struggle back down the mountain to him, jeopardizing their lives; not to mention their summit attempts. I wouldn't want him on my team whether we were climbing, riding, or anything.
The guys a tool. He put himself above the other members of the team, and endangered all their lives... both seasons. Totally irresponsible to climb w/ a broken hand in 07. He had to take up all the rescources to get him back down (both years), decreasing the margin of saftey for the entire team. He endangered the lives of all for his personal ego. Why is his dream of summit more important than the other climbers lives? He makes me ashamed he is an American.
I just finished watching both series and i agree with Catra despite all of Tim's refusals to turn back [i can't blame the guy] when his guts as a mountaineer were put to the test He really earned my respect by helping in the rescue of Mark Ingles the double amputee As a mountaineer myself who has completed the 7 summits i would climb with Tim anyday
One, Anonymous on November 28 said "jeopardizing their lives, not to mention their summit attempts." This just goes to show that summit attempts have become more important than helping fellow climbers.
Two, Mark Ingles should thank his lucky stars that anybody was willing to help him after his climbing party left David Sharp to die.
I know I wouldn't want to be on the same mountain as him or the same expedition. He risked people's lives and would not even listen to Brice who told him over and over to get down. Way too much machoism that day.
And what was Mark Inglis suppose to do! David took his fate in his own hands by climbing alone. He knew what he was up against. How the hell do you get someone down the mountain at that altitude.

He summited this year. Last year he helped Mark Ingles when he was having trouble coming down the mountain.
